Introduction
The Reset
So there was Galanoth the Dragon Slayer, standing in the lair of the Elemental Dragon of Time. And what does he do?
He sees a dragon and he kills it. Typical. Except this was no typical dragon and the consequences would not be typical.
We don't quite understand how, but instead of destroying time itself, Galanoth's sword disrupted the three hourglasses that
were the Dragon's heart, causing all three timelines that had gone before (Mechquest, DragonFable and Adventure Quest)
to shatter. The sands of time spilt and mingled and out of this there emerged a new, unique timeline: AdventureQuest Worlds.
Sepulchure's Arrival
A villain has plagued the world of Lore for too long: his name is Sepulchure and although he was once King Alteon's best
Knight, he has become a DoomKnight, an inhuman master of an undead army including necromancers, Shadowscythe and other vile creatures.
With his evil power he has transformed the remains of the slain Dragon into a skeletal flying fortress that casts a shadow of fear into the
hearts of the living. Now he is approaching Swordhaven, King Alteon's capital city, to confront his former leader for the last time.
Prologue: February 2009
The Book of Lore
Arriving at the outskirts of Battleon, you find an orc called Dogear "looking after" a bookshop. Actually, he's holding Maya, the
rightful book-keeper, hostage so he can find a very important book - the Book of Lore (a.k.a. the Lore Grimoire). This book records the
history of Lore, including a story about how the Dragons protected Lore by using Elemental Orbs to keep the Queen of All Monsters sealed away
in the Realm of Chaos. After you rescue both the book and Maya, she gives it to you to look after. Take good care of it - it will be very useful.
Save the Princess
You head towards Battleon and meet Robina and Artix manning a giant crossbow aimed at the sky above Battleon. Apparently a big red Dragon
called Bloodtooth has kidnapped one of King Alteon's daughters. Artix is glad to see you: you get shot from the crossbow onto the dragon's back
to rescue Princess Tera. She's not happy to see you - she thinks you've come to steal "her" dragon. A blue moglin (Zorbak?) gave her a cursed
Ring of Dragon Control from Gorgok. It lets her control the dragon, but she is also controlled by the ring. Save her from the ring's power and earn a
nice reward from the King (don't worry about crashing into the mountain - a sip of healing potion and you'll be fine)!
Chapter 1: February 13, 2009
Swordhaven
You march off to see the king about that reward but as you approach you see Sepulchure's flying fortress hovering over Swordhaven, and his
undead army surrounding and invading the town. The gate has been locked, but the guard will let you in if you defeat the undead nearby. Once inside,
Artix calls out to you to help him defend the city against the hordes (i.e. defeat LOTS of undead). After completing the quests from Artix, click the
gate near the Undead Giant to enter the castle.
The Castle
Sepulchure is on his way to the King's throne room and his minions are swarming the castle. Robina says you'll have to fight your way to the throne room
to defend King Alteon. You get there just in time for an epic battle between the former allies. You must choose which side you'll support: good King Alteon
or evil Sepulchure. And then Drakath decides to crash the party, attacking both Sepulchure and King Alteon! Sepulchure is destroyed (to his daughter's
horror) and his flying fortress is sent crashing into a mountain, while King Alteon is mortally wounded, but kept alive to watch as Drakath and his 13 Lords
of Chaos try to destroy Lore.
Chapter 2: February 20, 2009
Shadowfall
You head for the mountains and find the grounded flying fortress is developing into a town: Shadowfall. A cleric near the entrance tells you that Sepulchure's
daughter Gravelyn lives and can be found in the Shadowscythe Throne Room. Her first impression of you will depend on your alliance with either good or evil. She
plans to continue her father's goal of destroying King Alteon, but a truce has been forged because right now Drakath is the common enemy. However, the forces of
evil are splintered and everyone wants to claim the evil throne. Gravelyn needs you to recover her father's armour from the Crypt in Swordhaven where it is guarded
by Chaorrupted Knights. The corrupted armour is only the first step in Gravelyn's plan: she wants to repair the castle, raise an army and collect her father's
undead insurance policy.
Undead Insurance Policy
Gravelyn doesn't know how much her father's insurance policy was for, but she hopes it will be enough to fix the Shadowfall castle and hire an army. However, the Royal Tax Collector in Swordhaven is responsible for paying insurance claims, so Gravelyn is sending you on her behalf. Apparently undead insurance policies are rather rare, and Sepulchure's was even more rare than usual - he was insured for 1 TRILLION gold! The crooked tax collector doesn't want to pay either and YOU get sent to prison. Fight the guards and the piggy bank to get to the treasury. Gravelyn gets a real power trip when she hears how rich she has suddenly become.
